With very partial exceptions, no Iranian who has lived closely with the fall of the Pahlavi Empire and the birth of the Islamic Revolution has so far been able to give an honest testimony. He provided us with a valuable and accessible book at the same time while shedding light on the two turning points of the Iranian revolution. The book presents us, with a wide view, a political earthquake similar to the French Revolution of 1789 or the Russian Revolution of 1917. In its wide, successive scenes, it shows a grim affliction of unscrupulous and arrogant slanderers who deserve to be hanged. Influential faces appear, such as the enlightened empire Farah, who was unable to curb the corruption of the royal family, and like Islamist youths condemned to death who were crushed by the machine that helped launch its cycle.
