Gameplay Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes gameplay is similar to its predecessor, Critter Crunch, and draws inspiration from the Heroes of Might and Magic series. Battles are turn-based affairs that feature one-on-one tactical combat. Players take turns moving individual troops around the grid to stack units of the same colour vertically or horizontally. Players are given a number of moves each turn (often three). The troops begin a charge phase, which lasts for several turns, during which they collect Attack Power after the appropriate amount of units of the same colour is piled vertically. The Sylvan, Haven, Necropolis, Inferno, and Academy are the five factions in Clash of Heroes, and they are all based on their iterations in Heroes V. Heroes can only command members of their faction, and each section has a total of eight units that are tuned to it. Three degrees of troop potency are designated: Core (three types of units in each faction), Elite (two), and Champion (two).
