During the past century the number of drawings attributed to Michelangelo has ranged from 250 to 630, even though no new lots of drawings have been discovered. Perrig proposes a set of objective criteria for determining authenticity, examines those works that by external evidence are deemed to be by Michelangelo, and reattributes others to four of Michelangelo's entourage.
