But why so "loud"?Think about a drum set player. He or she has the ability to fill any dynamic space from soft jazz to full on rock. It is completely up to the player to decide the intensity. The central design of these maracas follows the same idea. Start big and work small, you get to decide the volume level from a light shake or tap to energetic maraca patterns. These are not toys.On the drum kit, you could replace your hihat for a song with an 8th note maraca pulse. Percussionists can accent orchestral passages in a large concert hall. Play with a worship group? These maracas can add a rhythmic touch to your music that easily fills the space in worship settings. Anyone on stage, from singers to keys players, can grab these maracas when the moment calls for it.Just like a cymbal can pierce through the mix at full volume, so can these maracas. For softer settings, it takes small movements to fill the room. You could even play one at a time, lightly tapping the bulb for accents. To project in a concert hall or with a live salsa band, shake the maracas with your arms and wrists to allow the filling to move freely inside. Shells, bulbs, gourds-there are many names to describe the casing that houses the filling inside. Traditionally made with rawhide, this part of the maraca is where all the sound is generated, but we tweaked the traditional design for a few important reasons. Using synthetic bulbs in place of rawhide broadens the dynamic range so you can project more. It's also weather resistant and extraordinary durable.The synthetic material is tough, crystal-clear sounding and will last a lifetime. Comfort is key for long sets of music and dynamic control. Designed the handles to fit your hand just right so you can dial-in the right amount of volume for your situation. The ergonomic curve also eliminates awkward fumbling to get a good hand position. These handles will give you a solid grip as soon as you pick up the maracas. The solid wood is finished with a rich stain for a high-end, yet understated look.Part of the reason these maracas project so well is their large size. The synthetic bulbs measure 3 1/2" wide x 6" to give the internal filling plenty of room to move around. Inside is mostly empty space for good reason. With full strokes, the filling has ample area to gain velocity before striking the inside of the shell, producing an articulate, sharp and classic maraca sound.
