The Tzolkin, the Mayan prophetic calendar, points to this age as one of great change and transformation. Beginning in the last Katun-twenty-year cycle-the Earth Mother will withdraw her life force energy to facilitate the transition to a new world, the Sixth Sun of Pure Consciousness, that dawns in the year 2012. In 1992 Merilyn Tunneshende's awakening began with a series of dreams about the ancient Mayan world in which she struggled to redeem the sacrificial or blood element inherent in the transformational process. When she became ill with AIDS, she returned to Mexico, the scene of her earlier nagualist traning, to undergo the ritual of "healing dreaming." Amid the ruins of ancient Palenque, she crossed into other realms and there experienced powerful transmutational energies.
