This book tells the story of America’s relationship with alcohol as it relates to the history of Alcoholics Anonymous. Find out who and what influenced the co-founders of AA and the origin of the 12 step process. The story that describes the “history” of AA is one that is filled with a long series of synchronistic events. The progression of these “coincidences” slowly builds as time passes and concludes at a “peak moment” when we arrive at a point in time that is now described as the “founding moment”. The format is a narrative timeline of a series of historical events that took place between the years 1618 and 1935. The sequence of events that unfolded during this time period made it possible for the meeting in Akron, Ohio between AA Co-founders, Dr. Robert Holcomb Smith and William Griffith Wilson. The timing and placement of these two individuals at the precise time and location resulted in the subsequent birth of Alcoholics Anonymous. The meeting was held at the home of Henrietta Seiberling in May 1935 and as fate would have it was the climax of the final and monumental “founding moment” of a spiritual movement that would transform the lives of countless suffering alcoholics and would make Bill W. a household name.
