The Makita® 5-Inch SJS™ II High-Power Angle Grinder offers power, comfort, convenience and motor protection features to ensure long-lasting performance. It has a 12-Amp motor which delivers high output at between 2,800 and 11,000 rpm. Its SJS II mechanical gear drive system prevents gear and motor damage by reducing force if the wheel is stopped. The labyrinth construction helps prevent dust and other contaminants from entering the motor. The Makita electric angle grinder's leaf spring, vibration-absorbing side handle and cam gear drive mechanism reduce vibrations to ensure user comfort. The zigzag epoxy found on either side of the armature coil as well as the field's powder coating provides longer tool life by preventing the buildup of dust and other debris. The grinder's wheel guard features easy, tool-less adjustment and its spiral bevel gears rotate smoothly, offering more efficient energy transfer. The slide switch locks on for continuous use, and the soft start suppresses startup reaction for longer gear life. The electronic current limiter protects the motor from overload during high torque operations, while the fan's enlarged fins improve air flow and cool the motor.
