Features For beginning to high beginning English language learners. “Getting Started” unit introduces the concept of social studies, including history and geography, and provides an introduction to the past tense. Reading strategies are explicitly taught and modeled throughout the lessons. Social studies skills, such as reading and interpreting maps, timelines, charts, and graphs are taught and recycled throughout each lesson. Vocabulary building activities and glossaries help students access and build mastery of the content.
