Lissa

When Viscount Stapleford is banished to his country estates by his formidable grandfather, he befriends Lissa Wayburn, a young village girl of unknown parentage. Inevitably, Lissa learns to love him, but there can be no thought of marriage between so unequal a pair. Determined not to ruin her benefactor's life, Lissa chooses to disappear. The task of tracing the runaway before harm befalls her is seen to be more vital than enquiries into the mystery that veils her past.
