Description
The Influence of French Painting would not exist without Foujita, said the headline of the Nouvelles de Versailles on March 11, 1987. The story told of the decision made by the Versailles Court of Appeals in the suit, by Mrs Kimiyo Foujita, trying to prevent the publication of the first volume. La Vie et l'oeuvre de Leonard-Tsuguharu Foujita could finally be published, after this decision. It was published in Paris in May 1987 (Vol. 1). Since this historic date in the bibliography of Foujita, and also in the jurisprudence of publishing and disclosure of works depending on the approval of an artist's heirs, Sylvie Buisson, a member of the Union Francaise des experts, has systematically continued her search for new and additional information on the artist's life and work. In this new book, she recognizes more than 2,000 authentic works, among the many she examined, and presents many important accounts of his life. After 15 years of additional studies, it is finally time to present readers with this collection of information by publishing a second volume, so that Foujita's influence can be reexamined, and reawakened in the memory of all, especially among the younger generations.
