Jump Rope Rhymes: from America, England and France

« This book is a collection of age-old, authentic jump rope verses from America, England, and France. Some of the rhymes are from the author's childhood memories of jumping rope in the 1930's in Richmond, Virginia. She collected the others by writing to various schools in America, England and France, asking the children to share the verses they recited. The collection was compiled by the author in the 1960's with a book in mind. It was filed away until the summer of 2015 to share with her granddaughters and maybe interest them in illustrating it. They were excited and enthusiastic. The innocence and joy of childhood was being captured! What was meant as a family project began to expand as friends wanted a copies. Thus the book was completed: A collection of jump rope rhymes, created by children and illustrated by children.
