Journey to Turkistan

In 1933 Sir Eric Teichman and five colleagues undertook an epic journey to the Chinese province of Xinjiang in two ramshackle lorries. Their mission, to report back to the British Government on the confused situation in the Province which had been virtually taken over by the Russians - is partof the story, but the fascination of the book lies in Sir Eric's gripping account of their 2,500 mile journey, one of the pioneering feats of early motoring.This new edition includes an Introduction by Peter Hopkirk.
