The XK120 was drawn up hurriedly during 1948 when it became apparent that the new twin-overhead-camshaft engine could form the ideal basis for a high-performance two-seater sports car. The XK120 developed into the XK140 in 1954 and into the XK150 in 1957, each more potent and refined than the last.
