IDX System Technology Imicro-PD Series 14.5V Li-Ion V-Mount Battery 97Wh
Now IDX announces a continuation of the Imicro Series with the new Imicro-PD Series. The Imicro batteries were comprised of the Imicro-98 and the Imicro-150. The new Imicro-PD Series will add a new entry, the Imicro-50P to the new Imicro-98P and Imicro-150P. The Imicro-50P will offer an option for applications, at less than one pound, where a lesser capacity battery is appropriate.
The new Imicro-PD series, Mini V-Mount Battery, are ultracompact, lightweight batteries which provide Imicro-50P @ 49Wh, Imicro-98P @ 97Wh and Imicro-150P @ 145Wh. They are suitable for powering DSLRs on a rig, camcorders, drones, and gimbals among others. Mounting the optional accessory cheese plate with rail holes, the A-CPmicro and affixing the P-Vmicro reduced size plate, allow for a rig system. Also, the A-Vmicro2 hot swap plate, which is the only such plate which switches automatically, accommodates long shooting segments.
IDX pioneered the availability of power taps beginning with the DUO-Series many years ago with a USB-A port. Although there were few destinations for that path, in a short couple of years accessories were designed to mate with USB-A. A few years ago IDX saw the wisdom of switching to USB-C with ZEN Three Stud, DUO-PD bricks and SB-U PD Sony BP-U replacements. Now the Imicro-PD Series joins that array of batteries used in different applications and on smaller cameras. The advantages of USB-C are evident in the Consumer world and is certain to be increased in the Professional/Broadcast world. USB-C is beneficial due to the fact that it is non-propriotary, faster, easier to connect as there is no "upside down" as well as other factors including the option for smaller power delivery/charging devices.
All three provide multiple accessory ports, including one 14.8V D-Tap output, and one of the afore mentioned USB Type-C PD Input/output, for powering various accessories, such as monitors, recorders, wireless products, or mobile devices. These batteries can be charged using IDX V-mount charger or by using one of the USB Type-C PD fast charger, such as UC-PD1 or UC-PD2. These versatile chargers make travel more convenient than carrying larger chargers. As with all USB-C power devices, they are non-proprietary and may be used with a number of other devices with a USB-C port. The 5-LED, eight step, gauge shows the remaining battery capacity, with the ability to be shown in the Viewfinder for display on camcorders.
