This book from 1937 is an insider's view of the Hays Office's practices of movie censorship. Author Martin was secretary to Joseph Breen who chaired the censorship board beginning in 1934. Martin's book is part historical overview, part insider's scoops, part defense of the Hays Office, and largely a practical handbook for aspiring producers and screenwriters. Hardback, cloth over boards with a sewn binding. 301 pp. Indexed. 4 Appendices, including the complete text of the Code and its Amendments.
