Hojicha is Japanese green tea that is slowly roasted at high temperature acquiring a reddish-brown color and smoky aroma. In making Tea Heaven’s Hojicha, the tea stems are used and roasted on charcoal. Roasting the tea brings out the delicious toasty and nutty flavours of this special tea. The translucent fine mahogany coloured tea infusion is very warm, smooth and comforting with an absence of astringency. The roasting process does not affect the beneficial properties of the tea as it is still rich in antioxidant but rather burns off the bitterness and caffeine. Hojicha is great to drink after a meal or in the evening to help you relax and unwind after the day’s upheaval.
