The one-armed man of The Fugitive meets the vehicular mayhem of Duel (1971). Revenge may be a meal served cold , but in this case redemption is a meal served hot and among the smoking and steaming ruins of the cars that feature. 'Rennie' Cray (Jim Caviezel) and Molly Poole (Rhona Mitra) lead as people who are caving in to their troubles, but who remain - barely - able to function against their foe, Fargo (Colm Feore). Cray saw his wife die 5 years ago, when Fargo ran her down for no reason. Cray chased and crashed into Fargo's car, maiming him and requiring prosthetic limbs. These are the trail that Cray follows after getting out of gaol. All the while, Fargo has been sending him newspaper clippings of his terror campaign of other road attrocities. Finally, Cray catches up just after Poole survives another killing, and finds that an accident inspector, Will Macklin (Frankie Faison) finally believes the story. Fargo abducts Poole to re-enact the killing of Cray's wife; Cray and Macklin give chase; Fargo is finally cornered by Poole and Cray; Macklin does the coup de grce. 2 nominations
