Christmas is bittersweet but festive. World War 2 is finally over. Attention will soon shift to the Space Age and the Cold War, and at the moment, visuals have a feeling of lightness, whimsy, and dancing. Some lettering during the war especially on publications meant to encourage the war effort on the homefront conveyed a cartoonish pleasantness that was later adapted to the 1950s space age aesthetic. Hark!1945 feels cartoonish. It's disjointed but joyful. Perhaps vaguely international in places with all the troops coming home?! . Even a bit curvy: but with a definite sharpness. Creativity and generosity made Christmases meaningful and memorable during a difficult timeHark!1945 celebrates the end of that war.
