Hand of Fate’s Dealer narrates the player's journey by dealing with the cards and providing lore, comments, awards, and penalties. He also plays a vital role in the Game's antagonistic plot. When they begin a new Game, the player receives a starting deck of cards, which includes encounter, equipment, and hero class cards. As the player advances through the Game, they get more cards, which they can use to assemble a deck of any size. Furthermore, as the player accumulates cards and advances through the Game, the Dealer draws from his deck, which contains surprising aspects like monsters and increasingly tricky encounters. Twelve court cards and the Dealer are the three bosses the player must beat in Hand of Fate's Story Mode.
