TASTING NOTES
Its exceptionally high quality and fascinating aroma make this tea absolutely outstanding. It offers a heady, creamy-smooth aroma, with the full-bodied, velvety accent of fresh cream lingering on your tongue for a long, enjoyable time. It has a complex, soothing flavor, devoid of any astringency or sharpness.
In its character, Shincha Matcha slightly resembles Hekisuien's other top favorites, Tenko and Shiro no Kotobuki. Either you prepare it as usucha or koicha, Shincha Matcha is an indulging treat.

At the end of the Edo period (1867), Kihei Horii, the first family head, founded Hekisuien in Uji. Hekisuien produces and sells “Tengu Ujicha Tea” (proprietary product name). A “Tengu” is a long-nosed imaginary creature of folklore in Japan. In Japanese, a self-conceited person is referred to as “Tengu” By extension, 'becoming Tengu' means being excessively boastful. The product name “Tengu Ujicha Tea” contains a lesson “Don’t let yourself conceited or boastful.”
