Neutral density (or ND) filters produce a grey neutral tone and are used in photography to reduce light, enabling more control over exposure and depth of field without affecting color contrast. ND Grads are clear in the bottom half of the filter with a gradual transition to the ND effect in the top half. They are primarily used for light reduction in skylines of landscape shots. Hard edge grads have a more defined hard lined transition and are usually used for longer focal lengths. Formatt-Hitech filters are made from the highest quality 1.5mm optical resin.Graduated Neutral DensityGraduated filters have an effect that occurs on one area of the filter and transitions to clear on other areas of the filter. Typically graduated filters are used to enhance the sky or terrain, or balance the luminosity of the sky to the luminosity of the terrain. For hard and soft grad filters, colors are often deployed (such as sunset or twilight) to enhance the color of the sky.Formatt-Hitech offers four varieties of Graduated Neutral Density Filters:• Soft Edge Grad• Hard Edge Grad• Reverse Grad• BlendersBlenderBlenders feature an effect transition that occurs over the entire length of the filter, starting at the top and graduating all the way to the bottom. This allows for a graduated effect across your image without any specific horizon line.Formatt-Hitech ResinFormatt-Hitech's resin filters are ultra flat, have excellent contrast and are completely transparent to the visible light spectrum. Formatt-Hitech's resin has the highest scratch resistance of any non-glass optical material and it's resistant to most solvents, chemicals, aging and material fatigue. Because of the ruggedness, light weight and portability, resin filters are a great choice for photographers and HDSLR filmmakers. Resin filters are dyed using our exclusive Absorbing Cell Technology process.
