This work recalls the history of the African American community in Vancouver, Washington/Clark County from WWII years onward, when they were attracted from around the country by job opportunities in the Kaiser Shipyards and other places. Sponsored by the NAACP's Vancouver Branch #1139 (chartered in March 1945), this book includes numerous stories about the origins, lives, and histories of these First Families.
