Felipe and Dolores Baca were the founders of the town of Trinidad. In 1866, they donated 75 acres of land as the town site. One of Colorado’s famous historic houses belonged to the Bacas. They traded seven cart loads of wool for the large house that was home to members of the Baca family until 1932.
