Today's Islam is the one who compares itself with secularism, entering with it a test of strength. Even fundamentalism has absorbed in the depth the religious space of the West and its discourse should be viewed in the same framework in which we place the discourse of Christian or Jewish fundamentalists. The debate on secularism focuses on Islam, giving way to a very violent battle of words that goes beyond discussion of ideas and restores conflicts. Contrary to accepted ideas, this book shows that the problem is not so much with Islam as with contemporary forms of religious resurgence. Contemporary and Westernized Islam, viewed from this angle, can eventually become intelligible.
