Earth Defense Force 5 is the fifth main and eight overall installment of the EDF series. Released in 2017 by D3 Publisher and developed by Sandlot, the game has a whooping 110-mission single-player campaign, loads of weapons to lock ’n’ load, and hordes of aliens to wipe out. If that weren’t enough, EDF 5’s DLC offers plenty: two Mission Packs – 10 extremely demanding missions each – with super-challenging opponents galore and 30 new weapons. In two words: more mayhem. And to top it off – online co-op is also available, so you may annihilate some aliens with your friends! The Plot It is as plain and simple as shooting fish in a barrel. The Earth has been invaded by aliens, which look surprisingly familiar. They resemble insects, amphibians, as well as B-movie monsters, ranging from gigantic ants and spiders to anthropomorphized frogs and Godzilla-like reptiles. Kill them all with your fellow soldiers, destroy the alien mothership, and voilà – the Earth is in peace again! The Gameplay Every EDF game is a non-stop roller coaster of explosions, firing arms and monsters’ roars, yet EDF 5 is exceptionally exhilarating and full of spectacular action. You have four soldier classes to choose from – a Ranger, Air Raider, Fencer and Wing Diver, whose equipment slots vary, allowing you to use different combat tools. During the course of the game, you will run and gun waves of aliens, not only on foot, but also using military vehicles like tanks and mechs. Employing exoskeletons, ordering air raids and summoning vehicles into the battlefield only spices up this action-packed gem even more.
