Dreams Gone Wrong Peace, War and Murder at Michigan State University [signed] [first edition]

In the early 1960s, the Union Grill at Michigan State University was a center of the change taking place in East Lansing, the nation, and Vietnam. The student gamblers that hung out there, many from East Lansing High School, had confidence in spades. Anything seemed possible. At the same time, MSU President John Hannah also had big dreams. He had the best of intentions, wanted to perfect the world. He heavily involved MSU in the lead-up to the Vietnam War, sending hundreds of faculty, administrators, and other recruits to Vietnam, while using the University to provide cover for the CIA. When the young East Lansing gamblers and MSU President John Hannah left East Lansing for the larger world, they found a much rougher, more intractable place. The tragedies that followed began when Rick Fowler, who had developed a successful gambling career in East Lansing, fatefully met outsider George Hall in East Lansing on a snowy winter night, January 29, 1975.
