Description
Through her experience as a medical missionary in China, her exposure of white slavery in Wisconsin lumber camps, and her worldwide investigations on behalf of the WCTU, Dr. Katharine Bushnell (1855-1946) concluded that mistranslation of the Bible was the main cause of the abuse of women. As she worked with prostitutes, oppressors, and governing officials, she saw how the Bible was being used to justify the abuse and exploitation of women. It was clear to her that women would continue to suffer as long as God’s Word was distorted. Her destiny was to do what was needed to resolve the problem. She was persuaded that it would not be through “social justice” and legislation that the needed change would come, but through hearts changed by the truths taught in The Bible.
