The story in the game deals with Dante’s early life, and hence starts off in the past. However, the design and layout used for the game is quite contemporary, which add a refreshing young twist to the franchise. Born to an Angel Mother and a Demon Father, Dante is a gifted fusion of the two powers. He also has a twin brother, who goes by the name of Vergil. Dante is usually helped by a young Medium who has the power to phase through two worlds, the physical one, and also the world of Limbo where Dante finds himself all the time. The fights in Limbo are much more theatrical and exaggerated than what could happen in the real physical world. Demons are more powerful in Limbo and can control various objects at will. Dante eventually defeats the Hunter Demon who sought to capture him and take him to the Demon King. After this, he meets up with Vergil and discovers more about his past, learning of the fate that ripped the twins from their parents and got their mother killed. Deeply saddened by what happened, he vows to take revenge and destroy the Demon King. The reason for the Demon King’s interest in the twins is due to the fact that any offspring of a demon and an angel is capable of killing the Demon King. Not wanting an end to his domination of the earth, he sets out to capture and kill the twins. The Story revolves around how Dante and Vergil join together in order to defeat the demon Horde and take the Demon King down. Dante is armed to the teeth with divine weapons. His trusty sword is named Rebellion which goes well with his attitude and overall personality. The sword has the power to transform into either a Demonic melee weapon or an Angelic scythe. Switching between the weapons is quite easy and a useful tactic when confronted with multiple enemies of varying strengths. The demonic weapon is slower but more powerful than the angelic scythe which comes in handy for attacks against large enemies. Ebony and Ivory are his twin pistols. The PlayStation 3 game has a PEGI rating of 16.
