The first installment, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, is based on a novel by Jeff Kinney and follows a young boy named Greg Heffley who starts making numerous schemes in an attempt to achieve greater recognition and a higher status in his school. He makes a note of all of his ideas in a journal. However, his ideas don’t always go as planned. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, the second installment, sees Greg and his older brother, Rodrick, trying to deal with their parents as the latter keep pushing the siblings to bond more. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, the third part of the series, follows Greg and his gang deciding on what they should do all summer now that school is out.
