Also included is an XLR Adapter with midrange attenuation (DAD6024). This provides the final tonal adjustment needed for going directly on air or to tape without editing. The combination of the mic and the XLR adapter makes voices more distinguishable and improves speech intelligibility and definition. This mic is an outstanding speech and vocal mic. It makes voice heard and intelligible. It is also resistant to moisture, extreme temperature change and humidity. When recording voices from mic placement on a performer's body, no frequency below 100 Hz is attractive. For this reason, an acoustical low-cut has been incorporated in the mic capsule so the built-in preamplifier (and the wireless system) will have much larger headroom. Furthermore, it removes distant rumbling from cars, trains, airplanes, etc. Another equally important consideration is that when placing a microphone on the body, especially on the chest, the frequency range of the consonants is damped, resulting in poor intelligibility. The d:screet 4071 Omnidirectional Microphone, Presence Boost has a built-in boost to compensate for this loss. Especially for ENG work, this mic is perfect because almost no ENG mixer leaves any possibility for a compensation of this kind. The d:screet ENG / EFP Microphone Kit is delivered in a sturdy case with a transparent lid. Inside there is room for the microphone, one or more adapters and various microphone concealment fixtures. - d:screet 4071 Miniature Omnidirectional Microphone, Presence Boost - The d:screet 4071 Miniature Omnidirectional Microphone, Presence Boost is a fantastic lavalier mic, which features a presence boost of typically 5 dB at 4 to 6 kHz. This is critical for a chest-placed microphone because the frequency range of the consonants spoken is damped in this position, which results in poor intelligibility. The d:screet 4071 has a boost that maximizes speech intelligibility. This microphone will be able to handle sound pressure levels up to 144 dB before clipping occurs. When recording voices from mic placement on a performer's body, no frequency below 100 Hz is attractive. For this reason, an acoustical low-cut at 100 Hz has been incorporated in the d:screet 4071's capsule so the built-in preamplifier (and the wireless system) will have a much larger headroom. Furthermore, the low-cut filter removes low-frequency rumble, noise and proximity effect. Because of its special optimization for speech, this mic is especially appropriate for ENG news crews since very few ENG mixers have the ability to make this type of compensation. It is also a fantastic choice for in-studio reporters or even hidden under clothing for film production use. A bit about omnis An omnidirectional microphone has sensitivity at all angles - in principle picking up sound equally from all directions. This gives you extremely natural and realistic sound compared to a cardioid mic. Omni mics are often used for picking up ambient sounds, as well as miking a large sound source such as a choir in a recording situation. Unfortunately, due to their pickup pattern, omnis can also produce a lot of feedback in live situations.Nonetheless, we recommend that you try a DPA omni first because, when used close to the sound source, the equal frequency response makes these mics a flexible addition in your audio toolbox. It will often give a more natural sound, it can handle extremely high sound pressure levels, it does not suffer from proximity effect and is not as sensitive to wind, pop or handling noise. - XLR Adapter - Adapter for powering Miniature Microphones via standard P48 phantom power. Designed for use with miniature microphones from DPA. Belt clip is included. This adapter is active-signal balanced, which improves suppression of induced electromagnetic noise. Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) is better than 60 dB from 50 Hz to 15 kHz. The adapter is functional at 12 V phantom power but needs 48 V +/-4 V to reach full specifications. This double holder can carry two mini microphones at once. It creates distance to the capsule, minimizing noise created from clothes and fabric contact. It is flexible - you can use it for both left- and right-side mounting. This holder is used with omnidirectional microphones that pick up sound perfectly, no matter which direction the microphone is placed in. The rear cable hook controls cable run behind clothes and minimizes the mic's visual appearance. The SCM0018 Miniature Microphone Holder is backwards compatible with the non-cable reinforced d:screet Miniature Microphones via an included sliced-cable relief. - Miniature Mesh - Miniature Mesh for use with d:screet 4071 Omnidirectional Microphone. Reduces slight wind noise or pop noise from a speaker's voice or any other turbulence that can cause the diaphragm to disperse. The Miniature Mesh will give a high frequency boost that is strongest on axis. For use on a speaker's chest, it is recommended to mount the microphone pointing upwards in order to avoid boosting the reflections. - Foam Windscreens - Foam Windscreens for Headsets and Earsets with round capsule and our d:screet 4060 Series Miniature. The windscreen is made of foam. The size and construction of the foam ensures that the windscreen does not attenuate the higher frequencies more than the tolerance field of the microphone frequency response and simultaneously it provides excellent protection from wind and pop noises. The size of the windscreen makes it discreet in all applications.
