This is the story of an Episcopal priest's struggle with his faith. In his search for religious identity, he journeyed from being a priest to an agnostic, and finally a Quaker. His faith now is experienced through mysticism. Religion and faith can be very different. As an Episcopal priest, he taught in religion departments at a Roman Catholic school and university. The author uses the pseudonym, James Gibson Harkins. All of the episodes recorded in this book are true. Names of persons, places, schools and churches are fictional in order to protect those involved. If readers think that they recognize themselves, they probably are mistaken. Many other persons have had experiences similar to those of each character. The book tells of hypocrisy, anger and despair. It challenges traditional Christian scripture and theology, as being based on myths and legends. It presents descriptions of mystical experiences, especially as found among Quakers. It is excellent for church discussion groups. The author now is a member of the Society of Friends. Beware! It is not for the super-pious. It will force readers to think!
