Comic Book SC Effect for FCPX

Turn any video into a video comic book! This effect does more than simply halftone the image, it also outlines, controls the size and contrast of the halftone dots, allows for a paper tint, includes levels controls and a fader to mix the amount of the effect to apply. Very easy to use! Most clips will only need to have the effect applied. Use the Color Corrector to assist this effect if it seems "week" - by increasing the contrast via the Exposure tab. Move the Color Corrector over Comic Book SC to pre-process the image; leave it below to post-process. This effect is not for YouTube or Vimeo or any other free upload service destinations. This effect is intended for more serious delivery or you may have to host your own videos. It requires a high bit rate in order to look like it is supposed to and the aforementioned services will re-encode to a much lower bit rate. It looks outstanding in ProRes 422LT or better. For H.264, it should be encoded for greater than 50Mbps or straight out of FCPX as H.264 but if you look at the demo at the preview URL, that example was encoded at 36Mbps. The images in the gallery are still frames exported from FCPX.
