Cat Monsters and Head Pots : The Archaeology of Missouri's Pemiscot Bayou

During the 1950s and early 1960s, the U. of Missouri (through the efforts of the late Carl Chapman) undertook a series of excavations of a small but archaeologically important region of the central Mississippi River valley. O'Brien (with contributions from Gregory L. Fox et al.) draws on notes and photographs from the excavations, as well as on public and private collections of artifacts excavated over the years, assembling what is known about late-prehistoric (ca.
