Selected writings of the foremost contemporary Greek iconographer Photios Kontoglou (1895-1965) on the Sacred Arts according to the tradition of Eastern Orthodox Christianity, compiled, translated from the Greek and edited with Prefaces, an Introduction, Notes, and Illustrations by Professor Constantine Cavarnos. There are chapters on Byzantine architecture, hymnography and music, but the emphasis is on wall paintings, panel icons, and mosaics. There is singular vigor in the translations.
