Over the years he has kept a notebook recording some of the more curious incidents and anecdotes of the cruise industry . . . As a former war correspondent and specialist contributor on terrorism and insurgency for Janes Intelligence Review, he says he enjoys& 39;shedding light in dark corners& 39;. He is the author of more than forty books and lives in the Scottish borders with his wife and a young daughter. His autobiography More Thrills than Skills was published recently.
