BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter game developed by Irrational Games, a studio that created such titles as BioShock and System Shock 2. It's the third game in the BioShock series, but it's not a direct sequel or prequel to the previous games. The story in BioShock Infinite starts at the beginning of the 20th century. Booker DeWit, a former Pinkerton agent, is sent to the floating city of Columbia to seek a young woman named Elizabeth, who has been held captive for 12 years. After arriving there, Booker realizes that Columbia, originally meant to be a peaceful city, is really a flying fortress that hosts a war between two factions. One of them is government, that has kept Elizabeth captive, and the other one is a military group called Vox Populi, that wants to use the young girl and take the power over the city. Just like it's predecessors, BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter with role-playing elements. Players can use a wide variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns and sniper rifles), and supernatural powers (telekinesis and lightning). Apart from that, Brooker uses grappling hook to travel through Columbia on a series of railways (called Skyline) that connects buildings. Additionally, players can find various nostrums, that grant them passive bonuses such as raising their strength and damage resistance. Elizabeth plays an important role in our adventure too. She has the ability to interact with the tears in the fabric of space-time and can summon objects to use within Columbia and help Brooker in combat.
