Billy's Bird-Day [signed]

As Billy and his family settle down on a sandy Cape Cod beach for a quiet summer picnic, he watches as birds fill the sky and start diviing angrily towards them, screaming and calling loudly, trying to scare them away from their nesting area. When the family moves farther away, Billy looks more closely and sees eggs in sandy nests on the ground and fluffy baby chicks running in the grassy dunes--so much activity in a place that his family thought was a deserted sandy beach. Billy learns about the fragile balance of nature from two bird wardens and is able to help some frightened children who were attacked by these nesting birds when they unwittingly stumble onto the nesting area. These beautiful, graceful birds called Terns that Billy discovered one hot summer afternoon will change his life and help him understand how we must learn to share our world with other species.
