As India’s official entry for best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards for the year 2012, Barfi! won hearts all over the country with its simplistic approach toward a topic with which few have seen success in the recent years. Anurag Basu’s directorial venture deviated from his preferred themes - passion and adultery, and into the purity and innocence of the life of a hearing impaired man, played by Ranbir Kapoor. The charming romantic comedy also stars the talented Priyanka Chopra, and South India’s latest import into the world of Bollywood, Ileana D’Cruz, in the female lead roles. The film follows the story of the deaf and mute Barfi, through the trials of a differently abled life, as he falls in love. While struggling against the twisted ways of the world, will Barfi be able to find lasting love? The film’s stunning visuals are brought to life by the endearing score composed by renowned music director Pritam, to create a complete cinematic effect that is as touching as it is entertaining.
