Backcountry Play Book: Games and Activities to Enhance Educational Field Experiences

An excellent resource for outdoor adventures and adventurers of all kinds. Backcountry Play Book promotes intentional play with inviting activities that set the tone, create cohesion, build skills, and develop relationships with self, others, and nature. The game grid is a unique and ingeniously simple framework for choosing the optimal game to match the objective. Use the game grid to select games that meet different purposes at different times during a trip. Write-ups are provided for each game that include description/instructions along with goals, debrief questions, and ideas describing conditions under which you might use that game. This book is organized to aid and enhance leaders thinking about key functions they need to manage in a group while on an outdoor trip or course and to provide games to help do that in a fun way that promotes group cohesion.
