Paul Pora owns and operates the Grass Roots washing station in Papua New Guinea's western highlands. The volcanic soil in this area is extremely fertile, making the region the country's foremost for coffee production.
Paul is not your typical coffee producer: unlike the regular PNG coffee farmer, he has a university degree in agriculture and a diploma from an agricultural school in the UK. Before becoming a producer himself, he worked at a coffee research institute.
Paul's background and knowledge in the industry is reflected in the management of his washing station and the consistent quality of the coffee that is refined here.
Our favorite of all the coffees that he produces is this coffee, where the varieties Typica, Arusha & Bourbon have slowly been allowed to dry in their own pulp for almost a month.
The fruit flavour is all over this coffee, behind the smooth body we find notes of mango, papaya, lime and a nice soft fruit acidity
