Aubrey's Brief Lives

A series of slanderous, intimate, shocking and defaming pen sketches of the lives of eminent people of the 17th century. They are a heterogenous mixture of anecdote, first hand observation, folklore and erudition, an open-minded - if at times inaccurate - portrait of an age.
