It chronicles the Assassins' (who fight to uphold peace and free will) and Templars' (who want control via consensus) millennia-long conflict. The story of the Game, which takes place in late 18th-century French Louisiana between 1765 and 1777, centres on French assassin Aveline de Grandpré, the first female protagonist in the series, as she resists the Templars' attempts to seize control of New Orleans after the French and Indian War. With an emphasis on using Aveline's combat, stealth, and parkour skills to complete objectives and explore the environment, the Game is set in an open world and is played from a third-person perspective.
