This book will be of great interest to all horse lovers in general and, at the same time, an important source of information for those who love Arabian horses in particular. Many photographs, especially those by star photographer Ursula Guttmann, present in an impressive way the Asil Arabian horses owned by the European breeders united in the ASIL CLUB. From a great number of expert international publications we present an anthology in English and German language which documents the important facts regarding our subject, "ASIL ARABIANS", in a clear and compact form. The Preface, Foreword and this collection of essential quotations underline the fact that with the Asil Arabian horse the Bedouin created one of the most ancient pure-bred breeds of the world. In a very consistent process only the asil blood and outstanding performance were chosen for breeding purposes. The ASIL CLUB is devoted to the ancient breeding methods of the Bedouin. Its members agree that the beauty of the Arabian horse must not be the sole objective if degeneration is to be avoided. They stress the importance of the asil blood and of continuous performance tests. All characteristics of the horse such as type, health, character, intelligence, tractability and handiness are logical results of this practice. During the last few years asil Arabian stallions who took part in performance tests, endurance tests and races did so with excellent results as may be seen from the performance table. A quotation taken from the Foreword by Landoberstallmeister Dr. G. Wenzler: "The guardians of the pure breeding of the Arabians horse had been the Bedouin with their pride of race. Today the war mare has vanished from their lives, so there is no more religious obligation for the pure breeding. The pure source of blood just trickles now, instead of streaming as it did before. It has therefore become the duty of the breeders outside Arabia to preserve the asil blood in their possession ...."
