Description
Early in the Vietnam War Pentagon Officials believed Vietnam was no place for armor. They were wrong. The tanks, Armored Personnel Carriers, howitzers, and gun trucks played a vital role in defending fire support bases, landing zones, bridges, and convoys. They were also very effective in combat assault operations. In addition to the 140+ never-before-published photographs, there are after-action reports and contemporaneous articles from the Stars and Stripes detailing battles between North Vietnamese Army forces and units of American armored fighting vehicles. There are several very rare photos of one of the Russian T-76 tanks that attacked Ben Het Special Forces Camp, which was the only tank-to-tank battle between American and North Vietnamese tanks in the Vietnam War. Additionally, there are pictures of Viet Cong propaganda leaflets, Military Payment Certificates (MPC), and Vietnamese currency.
