   Description

This polyester is the equivalent of Mylar D or Melinex 516 and is available in both rolls and sheets (the sheets have a paper interleaf for ease of use). Because polyester has a naturally occurring electrostatic charge it keeps items under it from slipping, however this charge also makes polyester film unacceptable for use with pastels and charcoal drawings. Application: Optically clear archival polyester film has many applications and since it's an inert material it will not discolor or damage artwork. Uses include interleaving photographs and prints (especially ink jet prints that are easily scuffed), encapsulating letters and documents and covering the window opening in mats. Polyester can be used to provide a barrier between archival material and surfaces containing acid such as work surfaces, storage shelves or in picture frames as a vapor barrier.
