The compartment is separated by a zippered internal divider. This allows you to store your DSLR Camera in the bottom section and keep accessories separate but accessible in the top section. Unzip the divider to make the main compartment expand from 10" to 13" in height. When the top section is not in use, you can take advantage of the clips on both sides to fold the top over.
