An Historical atlas of Scotland, c. 400-c. 1600

Since 1896 many individual maps have appeared in a variety of Scottish histories, yet work on a general historical atlas of Scotland was not undertaken until the Conference of Scottish Medievalists, soon after its establishment in 1958, enthusiastically sponsored the project. What has emerged will, we hope, mark a long-needed advance in Scottish historiography and prove of service to teachers and students as well as to the growing numbers of the general public, both in Scotland and elsewhere, who are attracted to Scottish history.
