Alat ini digunakan untuk mengukur kecepatan putaran per menit alias rpm. Dengan mengarahkan laser tachometer ke benda yang ingin diukur dan kemudian menahan tombol tachometer, kecepatan putaran langsung terukur secara akurat. Tidak perlu menempelkan tachometer ke benda yang ingin diukur.
