Kemudian Rasulullah juga mengatakan bahwa air zam zam dapat mengobati segala macam penyakit. Rasulullah SAW bersabda, "Air zam zam itu berkhasiat sesuai dengan apa yang diniatkan. Jika engkau meminumnya dengan niat meminta kesembuhan maka Allah akan menyembuhkanmu, dan jika engkau meminumnya dengan niat agar dahagamu hilang maka Allah akan menghilangkan dahagamu. Ia adalah galian jibril dan siraman Allah kepada Ismail" (H.R Ibnu Abbas dan Al Hakim).
