Angeline "Angie" Mitchell was an adventurous young woman in Arizona Territory in 1880. After gaining some teaching experience in Prescott, she decided to take a teaching position in the sparsely-populated Tonto Basin. Angie's own words describe the every day difficulties endured by the pioneer families of the time. Her first-hand account of primitive living conditions, travel, encounters with Apache Indians, exploring prehistoric ruins, and living with wild animals, bring to life the reality of the hardships faced by these remarkable early settlers.
